AJL is made up of a team of people who generously give their time, expertise and hearts to our mission. To say thank you, each volunteer has a grant to direct to a nonprofit organization that has been particularly meaningful to them. Here are the organizations our Board of Directors and Grantmaking Committee Members chose to receive their grant.
Board of Directors
Each Director has a $2,500 grant to direct to a nonprofit organization. Here are the organizations and their missions chosen by our Board of Directors.
- CASA Advocates for Children: Speaking up for abused and neglected children through court appointed special advocates.
- Casa de Amparo: To support those affected by and at risk of child abuse and neglect, through a range of programs and services that promote healing, growth, and healthy relationships.
- Casa Victoria: To improve the lives of as many poor children as we can reach at CASA VICTORIA FOUNDATION in old town, Quito, Ecuador.
- CIRCLE: We facilitate connections between inclusive, responsive communities who are leading education. CIRCLE creates, implements and supports sustainability and partnerships, for individuals and organizations committed to equity and inclusiveness.
- Colorado Uplift: Building long-term, life-changing relationships with urban youth.
- Colorado Youth Tennis Foundation: We promote the physical, emotional and social development of ALL youth to aspire to become active, productive and responsible citizens.
- Littleton Optimist Club: By providing hope and positive vision, Littleton Optimists bring out the best in kids.
- Sistahbiz Global Network: Sistahbiz is a business accelerator providing affordable options for coaching, training and services to help Black women build scalable, sellable models and access the back office support, financial and social capital that they need to play big in business.
Grantmaking Committee Members
Each Grantmaking Committee member has a $1,000 grant to direct to a nonprofit organization. Here are the organizations and their missions chosen by our Grantmaking Committee members.
- Button & Zipper: To provide warmth to individuals in need during our long and grueling winter months throughout the Denver Metro and Chicagoland communities.
- Emancipation Theater: We are a performance art social enterprise dedicated to gathering the community to share stories and inspire action.
- Girls Inc of Metro Denver: To inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold.
- Latino Cultural Arts Center: To elevate and advance the artistic and intellectual contributions of Latinos in Denver to national and international levels. *
- Moonshot edVentures: Moonshot surfaces and supports a diverse pipeline of leaders to design and launch the learning environments of tomorrow.
- SCD Enrichment: Recruiting and supporting students of color in accelerated course work.*
- Project VOYCE: to partner with youth to cultivate transformational leadership that addresses the root causes of inequity in underrepresented communities by training, employing, organizing, and building equitable youth-adult partnerships.
- Sistahbiz Global Network: Sistahbiz is a business accelerator providing affordable options for coaching, training and services to help Black women build scalable, sellable models and access the back office support, financial and social capital that they need to play big in business.
- The Initiative: The Initiative (previously known as the Domestic Violence Initiative for Women with Disabilities or DVI) advocates for persons with disabilities who have experienced abuse.
- Tinsae Ethiopian Single Moms Support Organization in Colorado: Providing support for single moms.
*These organizations received $2,000 because they were chosen by two members of the Grantmaking Committee to receive grants.
